在《宝可梦剑/盾》发售前两周以来，大量的偷跑信息即使任天堂想抓也抓不完。而游戏中的全国图鉴的删减事件也没有因此落幕，相反的是玩家不断的在偷跑游戏中找到各种质量极差或没进步，甚至是不如3DS版本的地方，让大量的玩家气愤的怀疑，当初开发商GameFreak所说《宝可梦剑/盾》品质会更好是不是在说谎，在Twitter上“#GameFreakLied”也成为了日本和北美的热门趋势 名。

不少人可能还记得说全国图鉴宣布删减时，《宝可梦剑/盾》制作人增田顺一曾通过Fami通解释说因为Switch是新平台，所以他们必须重新去制作3D模型，才导致不能移植所有宝可梦。然而从偷跑版中的数据却被发现，《宝可梦剑/盾》和《宝可梦太阳/月亮》模型是直接沿用，这件事情让“#GameFreakLied”标签在Twitter上进入了讨论趋势，质疑GameFreak和增田顺一就是在说谎，就连美国网友还气到在白宫联署网站上，请愿要求总统特朗普禁止贩卖《宝可梦剑/盾》。

而且这只是整个事件的引爆点，随后让火烧得更旺的是，游戏中的动画虽然没有太大的进步，除了《宝可梦太阳/月亮》的资源重复使用以骗人之外，居然还将6年多前的《宝可梦X/Y》动画应用于《宝可梦剑/盾》，甚至在游戏的过场表演中还有一段原地月球漫步，没有任何转身动画，让很多网友吐槽这是2019年的游戏吗？

偷跑版中，续细数还有着宝可梦体型上的呈现、复制贴上的房间、省资源的爬楼梯暂停、地图超小和奇怪的场景转换等整理出来的众多问题，都让人怀疑GameFreak是不是真的把系列粉丝当成盘子来耍，去年的《宝可梦皮卡丘/伊布》都比这些内容好上很多。当然，即使有着不少缺陷，还是有玩家认为游戏尚未发售，虽然删减与沿用的东西多，但其实这代加入的新机制与系统也很多，等游戏推出玩过后自己实际玩到再来判断也不迟，在网上有着不同的见解。
